Erica Gatewood is a native of Nashville, but Shelby County has been her home for more than two
decades. Since childhood,
she has had a genuine interest in the law, believing that having a deep understanding and
appreciation for it would empower her.
A proud graduate of the Cecil C. Humphrey School of Law, Erica has been a practicing attorney for
nearly twenty years. Time and countless experiences have afforded her the privilege of successfully advocating a variety of cases. Meeting people, often at their most vulnerable, and helping them
overcome daunting life challenges provides her with immense joy. Social Security work is personal for Erica. Her first case was for a close relative who had been previously denied benefits.

She experienced, firsthand, the emotional rollercoaster that Social
Security claimants and their families encounter. She won that case, and the smiles and genuine
gratitude her client and his mother extended are forever etched in her mind. This experience (and
others) ignited a passion for her clients and a commitment to ensure each case is presented in a
manner that provides the best chance to prevail.

In addition to Social Security cases, Attorney Gatewood handles personal injury, criminal, uncontested divorces, wills, child support, and custody matters, 

Erica is member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives
(NOSSCR) as well as the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association. She also completed
the Memphis Bar Association Leadership Forum and has taught multiple courses in law, criminal
justice, legal procedure and policy.
